Mentoring to me just wasn't about this one-on-one, it was about this community. It was about the community like CreativeMornings. You show up to enough of these things, then you start networking, you meet people, maybe you get jobs, maybe you like hook up or whatever. Things happen when you're in a community.

That itching feeling of when you know that you should be doing something more with your life, you should be doing it. You're doing yourself, and the universe, and your community, and your family a disservice if you play small.

Take more chances. Make more art. Launch more often.

Our fear is a creative ally that we should treasure, and befriend, and become really intimate with on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.

If you are one of those people who doesn't cross the finish line, you are missing out on the very gift of making things...you become the person you were meant to be.

The most meaningful and memorable moments of my life were brought on by moments of full body terror, so maybe I should start paying attention to them.
