Our lives were postponed, but our desire to connect is stronger than ever.

April’s CreativeMornings was truly one-of-a-kind as our Omaha chapter joined up with peers from seven other Midwest chapters: Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbia, Kansas City, Minneapolis and Grand Rapids. A special thanks to everyone who helped us radiate love from the middle by making this super spring mixer possible. It was a fun, full morning – lots of opportunities to meet people from other cities, gain insight into each other’s communities and learn some new things. Hit play for a quick recap, including our breakout session featuring Matthew Shrader, a Hot Shops glass artist whose talents with 2000-degree glass will literally blow you away!

About the speaker

Through the power of Zoom, we connected with the communities of: Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbia, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Omaha (that’s us!) and Grand Rapids.

Omaha's Breakout Session

Matthew Shrader was first introduced to hot glass by Ed Fennel of Crystal Forge at the Hot Shops Art Center, located in Omaha, Nebraska. He has studied glass blowing and glass sculpture with many prominent artists at the Corning Museum of Glass and Penland School of Crafts for the last 17 years. Shrader identifies nature as a source of inspiration and guidance in his work.
Intense, vibrant color combined with intriguing patterns and textures show up in a variety of forms. Shrader’s work often reinterprets organic form and vibrant color into vessels and sculptures. Matthew Shrader is currently the Lead Gaffer at Crystal Forge.
