The best option for parking is on the street when you can find space. Unfortunately, metered street parking is the most affordable option for this event so you may want to arrive early if you’d like to take advantage. There are many parking lots that you can see marked on the map, as well as garages in a close proximity with varying prices between $5-15. We would not recommend parking in the garage closest to the entrance (indicated ‘don’t park here’ on map) because it is very limited, and also very expensive.

That’s all, see you tomorrow!

The Cleveland chapter of CreativeMornings hosts events on the third Friday morning of ever month. Like all CreativeMornings events around the globe, the events are free to attend, feature live talks from successful creative professionals, and provide the general creative community a regular opportunity to meet and learn with each other.

The program is a catalyst for cross discipline conversation and idea exchange locally and globally. In Cleveland, events take place in different unique venues around the city and are captured on video to share with the world.

2nd Annual #CMCLE Speaker Nomination Party!

The only evening CreativeMornings event of the year is just around the corner and you won’t want to miss it. Thursday, October 27th 6-9pm at Ohio City Moto we’re hosting a private cocktail party to nominate 2017 speakers, register to attend for $35

October of 2015 we held this private cocktail party as an experiment; to help engage our community in the conversation of rising stars and all stars in Cleveland that would make great speakers for the 2016 season of CreativeMornings. To our delight over 200 nominations poured in, which introduced us to over half of the speakers for this year’s events.

We’ll be holding the event again on Thursday, October 27th at Ohio City Moto and the entire CreativeMornings community is invited. The fee for registration includes hors ’doeuvres, open bar with watershed distillery cocktails, and supports the operation of our regular program.

Advance registration is required and capped similar to our other events. If you’re able to join us sign up at cmclenomination2017.splashthat.com/If you would like to nominate a speaker but are unable to attend the event you are welcome to contact us at Cleveland@creativemornings.com for more information

This is a special update to let our entire chapter know that we are holding TWO events this October. Our regular meeting will be on Friday, Oct 14th at the downtown Cleveland Public Library.  As our chapter approaches the start of our third year we’re also holding some very important fundraising initiatives that we hope you will participate in, including our second annual Speaker Nomination party on Thursday, October 27th.

Over the past two years we’ve had the privilege of introducing some of our city’s most inspirational thinkers and doers at 20 free events. We’ve also seen friendships and relationships blossom for new collaborations, companies, and creative projects that will waterfall into many new things in Cleveland.

With your help we’re looking forward to sharing the excitement of our community’s creative endeavors in another year. If our program has helped or inspired you over the past two years please take a minute to consider helping us continue our work.  Thank you for all that you do!

A MESSAGE FROM SKYLIGHT FINANCIAL GROUP: 4/15 Parking Instructions

For those attending tomorrow’s event, we look forward to hosting you all in our rooftop penthouse - we did want to point out some things regarding parking.

It’s Ohio City and obviously parking is at an absolute premium especially with the market lot being under construction. MVP Valet does have services in the back of our building off of W 26th Street at a cost of $5 per car, please let them know you are here for the creative speaking event. Likewise the W 25th St RTA station is right across the street from our building (as a landmark we are top of the same building as Penzey Spice, Crop Bistro etc.)

Our helipad is currently out of service so apologies to anyone that planned to use it :)

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow - if you haven’t been here before you are in for a treat with the views #SkylightPenthouse

October 2015 : Leah Backo

This is the beginning of (what we hope will be) an ongoing series of interviews with the very talented community of designers responsible for the #QuotePoster print series. There is one new designer and one new print featured every month. Designers interested in participating in the series should submit portfolios for consideration to: Cleveland@CreativeMornings.com
Interview by Heather Futig

I had the great pleasure of chatting with Leah Backo recently. She’s full of energy and it’s hard not to get swept up in her excitement and enthusiasm when she talks about illustrating, The University of Michigan (where we both went for undergrad!) and her non-profit aspirations.

If you’ve been following (and you should be if you’re not!) the string of monthly CreativeMornings Cleveland quoteposters, her name should be familiar because she designed and created the beautiful poster based on Kate Snow’s September lecture. The quote that was selected for the poster, “connections feed a meaningful existence,” seems particularly applicable to Leah. She has a great passion for helping others. This is profoundly evident in her in-depth look at being alone that she completed for her senior thesis at U of M’s School of Art and Design and in her steadfast desire to work in non-profit marketing and communications for organizations that focus on disenfranchised and ailing populations.

Leah will pour herself into a project that compels her. She spent tens of hours on the quoteposter after she decided to wrap string around nails hammered into a corkboard in order to highlight the three dimensional theme of connections. This painstaking effort results in the poster message emerging from the negative space of the jumble of lines. The poster is striking on its own. But to understand Leah’s process and efforts adds a new dimension and appreciation of the piece. Hopefully we’ll see a lot more of her work in the future!

Check out Leah’s website and instagram! And be sure to pick up the poster of her at the next CMCle lecture.
