Asif Farooq has chosen a craft that has both liberated his creative mind and bound him to a discipline and expectations insurmountable by his own esteem. Exploring “Freedom” in a 20-minute talk for CreativeMornings, the artist hailed for showcasing more than 300 guns made of recycled cardboard, glue and an x-acto knife during Art Basel Miami week is interested in the decision-process – the series of choices – that comes with thinking without limits. Farooq is both existential and matter-of-fact in his approach, and will share personal anecdotes, philosophies and riffs about the theme that creates a tension in both the methods and output of his artwork.
