Here in ATX we love two things: creative ideas & coffee. If youâve been to one of our recent events, you may have noticed a new feature: a 30-sec pitch by someone in the Austin creative community. Short, entertaining, and supercharged, we’ve affectionately called these pitches “espresso shots.”Â
We enjoy hearing about all the great projects that our CreativeMornings/Austin community is passionate about. Do you have an awesome project youâd like to pitch in 30 seconds?
Do you haveâŠ
A new project youâre passionate about?
A position youâre trying to fill?
An event youâd like to promote?
A cause that you evangelize?
A Kickstarter project in need of a kick?
A film, art installation, product or another creative baby thatâs made its debut?
A joke youâd like to test? (no, really!)
Email us and let us know what youâd like to pitch. Make sure to send along any links for additional information.
Bottoms up!

Photos from Elizabeth Mack's December talk on EDUCATION are up! A big thanks to the wonderful Leslie Boorhem-Stephenson for snapping moments from this event.Â

For those of you that have been to our recent meetings, youâre probably familiar with the Espresso Shots segment we started where we get to hear about notable projects from one of us in the #CMATX community for 30 seconds (or before Ben finishes his espresso shot).
Following December’s theme of EDUCATION, we’re highlighting Carl Hooker, who introduced Digital Parenting 101 (available to the public) in this month’s espresso shot. Carl regularly champions projects that integrate technology with education, like local iPadpalooza, which encourages kids’ interest in technology not only as a way to connect and play, but also to learn. Another recent project includes #student4aday, which you can read a recap of on his blog.

What’s the book that most sparked your creativity as a child?
Creative Mornings Austin will be hosting a book drive for Bookspring, which distributes collected books to low income families, community outreach events, children’s shelters, charity organizations, and libraries in economically disadvantaged areas.
Please consider bringing a gently used childrenâs or young adult book to our December meeting for donating (see this flyer for specifics on what not to bring). The biggest need is for children ages 0-14, but even if the book isn’t gently used, it will go to RIF, Reach Out and Read, Rebook, Recycled Reads, or among multiple other charities (like shelters, hospitals, and clinics). In lieu of a book (or if you may not own many childrenâs books), we are also greatly encouraging monetary donations of all amounts because Bookspring is able to purchase books themselves at cost. No amount is too little!Â
We are excited for our creative community in Austin to participate in this drive during the holidays with this wonderful local organization. Make sure to follow us on Twitter or like our chapter’s Facebook page for interactive fun (and sharing your favorite creative children’s book) leading up to December’s event.
Read more about Bookspring on their site, and spread the word by tagging #CMATX and @Bookspring_TX.
