We are social beings, so we want to belong to something the whole time, we want to connect with people who look like us, who think like us. At the same time we want to impress our brand on the world.

Gazing at the clouds is a pointless activity, and that is exactly why it’s so important.

It's much more about celebrating small wins, short circuiting feedback loops, or reducing the latency between effort and meaningful feedback, than it is about fixating upon distant goals and targets.

Goals narrow our focus, we fixate on one destination in the future which robs us of our ability to explore tangential opportunities along the way.

No one sets out to become irrelevant, but many of us find ourselves there when we become too busy for meaningful progress.

Mindfulness is this idea that you confront the emotions that you’re having right when they are happening instead of pushing them away. That has a lot to do too with the things you do on a regular basis. “Oh I need to call my mum, oh I need to make that appointment”. Instead of saying “Oh I’ll do it tomorrow” and letting it fester, creating this big ball of anxiety, to really confront it head on.

Often when we say transparency, what we really mean is trust.

I am very grateful that I was raised hearing stories of survival. My parents left Chile from the dictatorship…and there was never once in that rhetoric we are victims, or there is hate or revenge. It was always we will survive, we have to believe in the better of human kind, we have to overcome, there is such a thing as peace, there is such a thing as dignity.

We are the stories that we are raised with.

You can’t break the rules without acknowledging what the rules are, if you continue to follow all the rules, you will continue to make the same artwork that everybody creates. And so what is true to you? What is true to your own voice?

What I found on my journey, is that it's not the what or the how, but the why that is at the heart of creative entrepreneurs. It's the why that sparks the revolution.

There's a whole group of people and problems who are overlooked and undervalued... And it's time that we do something about it.

Perfection is going to kill you.

Intensity cannot replace consistency.

The more open and honest we've been with customers the richer that relationship has been.

Transparency breeds incredible trust.

The creative work life requires faith—faith in our craft, faith in the process, and the most challenging of all, faith in ourselves.

It's almost like ideas seem to taunt us with their absence when we need them most.

In a transparent work environment everybody has to step up, and it makes people stronger.

To be a creative individual takes work, it takes an effort to maintain it. Because school teaches it out of you, because they want you to 'get in line'. To 'learn the rules', so we can get 'uniform students'. You know, As Bob Dylan says, '20 years of school and then they put you on the day shift.' You know - factory workers.

And take care of the millennial friends that you have around you, because they're not mad at you and they're not bad people. They were dealt the same bad had you were dealt. Don't demand that they take care of you, take care of them. And that's part of the problem, there's an entire section in the book shop called "Self Help", and there's no section in the book shop called "Help Others."

You have to be willing to be first and last of your own destiny.
