I want to make what I want to make and I don't want to be in my own way all the time.

When we box ourselves too tightly into a single identity or career path, we deprive ourselves of the nutrient necessary to remain connected to the world around us. We are lacking in vitamin curiosity.

Pioneers are fundamentally curious. They want to see what's just over the next ridge. They want to discover whether the stories are true.

When we are young, we are presented with a set of pretty basic isolated end-goal career and identity options . . . Nobody tells you that your curiosity, your life experience, is going to determine a lot about what kind of doctor or firefighter you become.

Diversity doesn't just apply to women, it just does not apply to people of color, it also applies to people who have disabilities or abilities or are older.

Diversity is a tough word, I think we all have a general sense of what that word means, but in terms of how I approach it on a day to day basis is that's an end goal. That's what I want to get to. Inclusion is the way that I get there.

What I mean by creatives, I just mean people taking a risk. People going through some endeavor, trying to build or create or make something. I don't mean only artists or painters.

Making stuff is in all of us.

When you gather enough data together, you put it in formation. In formation. Information. So data becomes information and information gives you the ability to start creating knowledge from what has been put together. From that knowledge, you then gain intelligence that gives you the ability to act on that knowledge. From that intelligence you get wisdom which gives you the ability to decide if you want to act on that knowledge or not. and so, if you understand the trajectory and path, you understand your path and how it relates to creativity and genius.

So if you know anything about the architecture press, there's a disproportionate amount of ink spilled on designer's intentions with comparatively little, if any, on the experience of clients and users. I find that odd and short-sighted. You see, I've come to understand that buildings are about people and people are about stories.

Life is messy. People are messy. You can't control what life throws at you. . . . But what we can control is how we feel about it. What we can control is what kind of day we have.

Life is like a mountain range—you go up and down.

They've all these left brain voices, these things that we should be, that we've been programmed with over our entire life span, that, in improv, we want to beat down and encourage people to let go of so that they can start taking risks and play in that place where failure is gonna happen.

The right relationship between creativity, the mind, and compassion of the heart is for the creativity to serve the passion.

Creativity is the capacity that all of us have, that can be harnessed to any particular end. We can focus our creativity on creating great community or we can focus our creativity on building bombs. You can be a creative sniper or you can be a creative nurse.
