We’re pleased this month to welcome Glasgow photographer Euan Anderson to the stage! Many from the CM Glasgow community will recognise Euan from his work, as well as his time on our volunteer team as our chapter photographer.
Euan is a Glasgow-based photographer, juggling his time among advertising, fashion, and food and drinks photography. With 16 years in the industry, Euan’s journey has touched various sectors, from press and journalism to the glitz of fashion and cosmetics advertising.
A Native Glaswegian, Euan is keen on supporting the local industry. In 2022, he opened Cove One Studios, boosting Glasgow’s reputation in Scotland as a go-to spot for high-end photoshoots and a place for nurturing new talent. At our event on Friday, February 23rd (register here) Euan will be in front of the camera on stage at ALT agency to talking about social media’s impact on how we read the visual images we see daily, including:
How does the surge in the frequency of imagery in our daily lives impact our interpretation of it?
How does this shift in appetite serve as a positive for those in the creative field?
Does it mean a potential loss of local cultural uniqueness?
This is sure to be a topical and fascinating talk! If you’ve not got your ticket yet, be sure to register as spaces are limited! For those who do not know Euan already, we asked him to share a few things about himself with us:
What are you motivated by? Whatâs your motivation? Who inspires you?
16 years ago I would have answered I was motivated purely by a passion for photography and the world it opened to me. I was motivated to reach a wider audience to show my work and was inspired by the great photographers, Bailey, Watson and Avedon etc. Nowadays though, the answer to all 3 is my girls, my wife Kim and kids Sophie and Emily. Though the old answer still plays a large part.
Whatâs a typical day like for you?
Too short. My days change constantly and a lot of the time very quickly and at short notice, The only constant is that it feel like there are never quite enough hours. I run 2 businesses and have young family, so maybe thatâll change someday.
Tunnocks Tea Cakes or Caramel Wafers?
Caramel Wafer every time
Lastly, if you could describe Glasgow in one word, what would it be?
Complicated ************** And there you have it! Get your ticket and we’ll see you there!
November 3rd a panel from GCAN spoke about Endurance and their experience as participatory arts practitioners
In our first collaboration with Glasgow Connected Arts Network at the beautiful Civic House events space, we heard from four panelists about the impact community engagement and participatory arts can have and the endurance required to work in the space. Our moderator was Jade Sturrock from GCAN, who was joined by Philippa Tomsin, Hannah Justad, and Thai Groucott.
Our September 29th event at the beautiful Bright Signals offices drew a large and diverse crowd for Calum’s talk on Simplicity. If you missed the fun morning, you can watch the talk here.
Our small but mighty event July 28th 2023 at the fabulous event space at Refuweegee featured local bespoke jewelry designer and maker Megan Coghill. Megan shared a behind-the-scenes look at what inspired her to start her company Saint Teneu, her journey as a jewelry designer and maker, as well as the practical aspects of running a small business with an intensive customer service demands. We all came away inspired, thinking about precious stones and the work that goes into the pieces in a different way.
A belated, but big thank you to Marianne Vosloo of YardWorks for our May 2023 event at SWG3. As one of the organisers and curators of the YardWorks festival, Marianne gave us both a fascinating talk, but a wonderful tour around the yard with lots of insights into the different artists from around the world and how many of the artists collaborated on site to create the massive and unique pieces.

We’re super excited to announce our April speakers. Storytellers, local PR power couple, and founders of Story Shop Gregor and Scarlett Hollerin will tell us a bit of their creative journeys and what led them to start Story Shop just over three years ago at the beginning of the pandemic in tandem with starting a family. You can see a lot of their personal passions and authenticity come across in the work they’ve done for the likes of Brewgooder, Scottish Rugby and My Name'5 Doddie, and I for one am really looking forward to hearing about the evolution of their storytelling. We’ll be in Story Shop’s beautiful and inviting space in Partick this month which includes one of the coolest lights I’ve seen lately. Keep your eyes on social to find out about our breakfast providers this month and don’t forget to get your free ticket as space is limited!

The body in motion is a thing of beauty. Our cells shake kinetic energy through the finely articulated instruments of muscle, ligament, and bone. We blink, we pulse, we dance. Some even pull off feats of human athleticism and daring, from which we can hardly look away.
Movement is a universal state of being.Even at rest, the matter weâre composed of is in motion â subatomic particles whir about at dizzying speeds, to create the sense of solidity. The things that appear still â the earth beneath us, the trunk of a tree above us, is but a trick of the eye. They move slowly but at a staggering scale.
When we move together, we can build social and collective movements. Like a murmuration of swallows, we can form sweeping visions of a world never seen before. Our collective energy directed like a mighty river flowing downstream, taking unexpected and winding turns to carve mountains. Our Wellington chapter chose this monthâs exploration of Movement, Hannah Webster illustrated the theme, and Mailchimp is presenting the theme.Â
Hana is speaking at the CreativeMornings Glasgow event will be March 31st 2023, 9-10:30. Get your free ticket – Everyone is welcome!
Glasgow signpainter Hana Lindsay is the founder of @suresigns_glasgow . Hana discovered signpainting by being continually asked to do chalkboards and window displays in her hospitality jobs. This is where she found her love for hand lettering and design. She began participating in sign painting workshops and was largely self taught until she took the opportunity to travel to Minnesota in the USA to work with celebrated sign painter and teacher Mike Meyer in 2019. She spent a month traveling across the United States and she returned to Glasgow to put her new skills to the test.
Rachel is speaking at the CreativeMornings Glasgow event will be March 31st 2023, 9-10:30. Get your free ticket – Everyone is welcome!
Rachel studied graphic design at Edinburgh College of Art and took a semester abroad at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She took a class on hand lettering which ignited her love of typography and was where she discovered signpainting. She moved back to her home city of Glasgow and worked with Ciaran GlĂśbel of GlĂśbel Bros Signs in 2017 before starting taking on her own commissions and studio space. In 2022 she hosted âBurds of the Brushâ, a weekend signpainters meet for women and non-binary painters which was attended by 44 painters from 9 countries. She is particularly passionate about supporting and celebrating non-male painters in what is still a very male dominated industry and craft.
