About the speaker

Sarah Housley is a design futurist and innovation researcher who specialises in tracking and forecasting trends and critically evaluating futures visions. Her writing and research has explored subjects ranging from ambient AI to solar power; from the circular economy to the rise of biodesign. Previously the Head of Consumer Tech at trend forecasting company WGSN, she now works independently as a futures consultant, writer, speaker and visiting lecturer. Her new book, Designing Hope: Visions to Shape Our Future, asks: when did we stop dreaming of a better future? and outlines four emerging futures to inspire hope, action and critical thinking about how we’ll live in the decades to come.

She has spoken internationally at events including London Design Festival, Dutch Design Week and iF Chengdu; written for Dezeen, The New World, The Big Issue, New Scientist, Stylist and South China Morning Post; and been quoted in publications including The Globe and Mail, CNN Style, Refinery29, FT Weekend, The Guardian and British Vogue.
