About the speaker
Sandi Cano Cauley is an entrepreneur, a dancer and a villager in a lot of villages.
A native Texan, Cauley graduated from Texas A&M-Kingsville with a major in Radio/Television and immediately went to work as a news producer for broadcast and digital platforms and spent 20+ years in five different newsrooms in the Southeast. She retired in 2016, as an Emmy Award winning Executive Producer from WTVR/CBS 6 in Richmond, VA.
While working in Birmingham, AL, Cauley discovered a group fitness program called Dance Trance and licensed the program in two states. The growth of the program in Richmond led Cauley to open Turn Cardio Jam Studio in 2015; while she continued to work as a full-time journalist.
She chose to open her studio in Scott’s Addition, a historic railroad neighborhood, because of its proximity to WTVR and inadvertently became a pioneer in the resurgence and popularity of the area.
Cauley has also briefly worked in marketing serving as a copywriter for companies like Capital One, Cavalier Telephone, and The American Cancer Society.
She is an active board member for the Scott’s Addition Boulevard Association along with the O’Brien Foundation and was the PR/Media Maven for the Arthur Ashe Boulevard Initiative. Recently, Cauley launched a new entrepreneurial venture; Scott Hill Media handling PR/Marketing and Media Relations for small businesses.
Cauley also volunteers with Richmond Urban Dance and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She loves her three sons, the beach, coffee and any beautiful meal served in a bowl.
