About the speaker

Maria Fonfara is photographer living in Copenhagen. Her career started at the Danish newspaper Politiken and she is currently working as a freelance photographer and as a teacher at Grundtvigs Højskole.

“It’s important for me that a photograph captures a moment, an expression or feeling. It must have a deeper layer of human recognition. A good picture has to mean something, and we must remember it. I try to get behind the people I photograph. For me the main thing is not what you are but who you are,” says Maria.

Maria Fonfara has won the 1st prize in the Danish Press Photo of The Year in 2013/2014 and in 2008/2009 - both times in the category of Daily Life.

Her talk on LOVE is a story about the need to love and the desire to be loved, no matter of age. Older people who want love, intimacy and sex and they are not afraid to show their love story. Something she documented in her book “Elsk Hele Livet” (Love All Life) from 2012, where old people talk honest and openly about love and sex.
