Kupong – Preserving an old craft
May 24, 7:30am - 9:00am CEST. Hosted at Grafill
part of a series on Preserve
About the speaker
“Preservation is part of our Norwegian heritage. Due to a challenging climate and difficulties in growing food we had to get creative to make things last - from clothes, to food and drinks. For us, preserving is much like improvement or perfection. What lies within the qualities of the raw material we are working with? What can it become? How can we make it long lasting and sustainable? How can we adapt a cradle to cradle mindset to our concept?”
Camilla Dingsøyr and Kristina Hjelde Hatletveit are the founders of Kupong Knitwear. With backgrounds in fashion & design and a shared passion for knitwear, Camilla an Kristina are preserving a part of Norway’s traditional heritage. With Kupong, they have created a fashion brand where they are able to preserve the old craft of knitting, while keeping it contemporary and upbeat. This has resulted in unique pieces of hand-knitted clothing with a sustainable production line.
Grafill is an interest organisation for those studying or working within the field of visual communication in Norway. Grafill’s 1350 members are students and professionals working in the areas of graphic design, illustration, animation, comics/cartooning and digital design.
