In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg, also known as Swissmiss, started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone.

Today, attendees gather in 224 cities around the world to enjoy fresh coffee, friendly people, and an international array of breakfast foods. Volunteer hosts and their team members organize local chapters that not only celebrate a city’s creative talent, but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded individuals. We call ourselves an engine of generosity and live by our manifesto.

CreativeMornings Oslo’s previous host has since stepped down so we are now looking for a replacement. Could this be you?

If you are:

- passionate about your local creative community in Oslo
- psyched to lead a small volunteer team to put your own spin on CreativeMornings
- excited to participate in the global conversation among our chapters
- one to use the words humble, driven, resourceful, generous and connected to describe yourself

We’d love to hear from you! If interested, complete our standard New Chapter Application and we’ll be in touch.

There will be follow up interviews for the top candidates.

We look forward to receiving your application!

P.s. Insight into what it’s like to be a host. And more insight. Okay, last one.

To dare is an act of faith. We work up the nerve to make the soaring leap, even when we don’t know what the outcome will be. At the core of daring, you’ll find bravery and defiance entwined. We dare to challenge the stories passed down to us that no longer fit, the stories that limit our imagination. As we shed the stories that no longer serve us, but a way forward seems uncertain, how can we summon the courage to do impossible things? In The Field Guide to Getting Lost, Rebecca Solnit invites us, “Leave the door open for the unknown, the door into the dark. That’s where the most important things come from, where you yourself came from, and where you will go.” The door is open. Do you dare step through?

CreativeMornings/Porto Alegre chose September’s Dare theme, and Mitti Mendonça created the accompanying illustration.

Inhale. Exhale. Release. Let the breeze roll over you, let the water flow languid, feel the tautness behind your eyes go slack. Release is a universal law—every build-up of tension must give way. Everything from the flowers to the trees need to do it to survive. Release is a critical part of growth, healing, and transformation. We can release each other from our claims. We can be the means of each others’ deliverance. It’s what gives the words “I release you” their power. What happens when we let go of emotions, expectations, habits, relationships, or thoughts that no longer serve us? What do we release in ourselves? What do we let loose into the world?

CreativeMornings/Portsmouth chose August’s exploration of Release and Allie Runnion created the accompanying illustration.

June’s Theme is Matriarchy.

Imagine a society in which women make all the key decisions that shape the safety, health, education, opportunities, and culture of the community. What would your town or city look like if the systems and structures were re-envisioned and women held the majority of the positions of power and leadership? What would change? What would it feel like? Or maybe you already live in such an environment; societies led by powerful women exist today, including Native and Indigenous communities around the world.

This month, we shine a light on all the leaders who are also women, from across the vast spectrum of identities and experiences of womanhood. The decision-makers, the life-givers, the caregivers, the frontline workers, the problem-solvers, the world-changers. The organizers and activists, the artists and writers and innovators. The teachers, scientists, medical professionals, politicians, business owners. The ones with megaphones and the ones working behind-the-scenes. Without you, where would our world be?

CreativeMornings/Rotterdam chose June’s Matriarchy theme, and Xaviera Altena created the accompanying illustration.

MARCH´S THEME IS RIPPLE
Everything you do has the power to create its own ripple effect. Like an object breaking the water’s surface, our actions can cause a series of ever-expanding waves of impact stretching far beyond our individual reach.Whether we theorize it with dominos, snowballs, or butterflies – it’s about momentum, and as momentum builds, even the smallest actions can end up having a profound impact. One voice can inspire a movement, a single act of kindness can save a life. No matter how minuscule it may seem in the moment, what you do matters. This month, we invite you to pay attention to your personal ripple effect. To examine how your impact expands beyond your inner circle and find ways to pay positivity forward. If you’re feeling brave, this month can be a time to explore the depths of your world. Dare to plunge below the surface and invite deeper connection in.Our Tel Aviv chapter chose this month’s exploration of Ripple and Masha Manapov illustrated it.

We do our best to give you great talks, inspiring spaces, and tasty coffee and breakfast every month, but the best part of CreativeMornings is the people. So we’re showcasing a few of the faces of our fabulous volunteers!

Meet Ole

What do you love about Oslo? The best thing about Oslo is that I can just hop on my bike and go everywhere I want. Whether I head into the forest and bike miles on miles all day. Or down to the ocean to go for an evening swim. Sometimes I’ll also just bike around to people-watch.

What do you enjoy most about CreativeMornings? Having a monthly theme makes CreativeMornings unique to me. I have not experience anywhere else I’ve been to a breakfast keynote. It gives the speakers a context for their talks I don’t think they would have had otherwise. It is also interesting to see how the different chapters around the world interpret the theme. Breakfast AND inspiring and educational input is also a killer combo.

What are a few of your favorite themes/talks/speakers we’ve had here in Oslo? Jimmy Westerheim and Nikol Mard – Check them out online!

What’s the best or worst advice you’ve ever been given? “Never do today what you can do tomorrow” - And that’s how procrastination was born.

How do you take your coffee? None - but i’ll take a Farris.

What are 3 things you do in your daily routine to feel productive, active, and grounded? I try to journal and meditate everyday. It helps feel good and keep track of the bigger picture. Biking everywhere keeps me active.

Share your creativity! What are you working on these days? I’ve just started a 365 photo project! The rules are simple – One image everyday. It should be shot and uploaded within the 24 hours of that day.
