Is collaboration really like playing? Sort of. Like play, creative collaboration is a process not a thing - itʼs a state of being. The process is as important as the end point.

Jelly&Gin, run by Aoife Behan and Carol Soutar, is a creative agency that specialises in brand communication through the creation of food and drink experiences. This creative partnership creates unforgettable edible adventures by fusing the worlds of art and design, sound and light, food and drink.

Collaboration plays a part in one form or another in pretty much all of Jelly&Gin’s projects. In this CreativeMornings talk, Aoife and Carol spoke the role of collaboration in their Create:Eat experiences, and how itʼs evolved as their business has evolved.

About the speaker

Jelly and Gin is run by Aoife Behan, Business Director and Carol Soutar, Creative Director. Formed in 2012, Aoife and Carol’s vision was to create unforgettable edible adventures, fusing together the worlds of art and design, sound and light, and food and drink. Drawing on their extensive experience in the creative industries and public sector, and driven by a passion for food, drink and design, they deliver a taste of the unexpected.

As well as bringing brands like Google and Lululemon Athletica to life through communal food and drink experiences, Jelly and Gin have devised their own portfolio of projects including the interactive cinema experience Watch & Wolf, pop-up dining series Burgher Burger with highly-acclaimed chefs, and a collaborative dining experience Create:Eat in 2012. Create:Eat:Whisky follows on from this event, taking it to a new level.

In December 2012, less than six months after launching, Jelly and Gin was included in The List’s Hot 100 of Scotland’s hottest cultural contributors. Jelly and Gin was recently awarded funding from the Cultural Enterprise Office’s Starter for 6 fund for creative and innovative entrepreneurs. In November 2014 Jelly and Gin won The Creative Edinburgh Start-up Award for “an outstanding creative contribution or activity from a newly formed company”.

In April of this year Jelly and Gin travelled to New York City with client VisitScotland to deliver an edible exhibition as part of Scotland Week 2015.
