About the speaker
Bethany Koby and Sadhbh Doherty work for Technology Will Save Us, a business dedicated to sparking the imagination of young people using hands-on technology. Their beautifully designed DIY kits and digital resources are the most accessible way for families, young people and educators to make, play, code and invent with technology.
In 2014 the DIY Gamer Kit, celebrated for its design and learning outcomes, was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art as part of their permanent design collections. It was later shortlisted for Designer of the Year in 2015 by the London Design Museum and won an award for Innovation for the Homes & Gardens Designer Awards in 2016.
Bethany is a mum, CEO, designer, art director and artist who co-founded Technology Will Save Us in 2012. As the CEO, she is responsible for its strategic growth, partnerships and and continuing to make sure the products and services they create are fun, relevant, learning experiences that empower parents and inspire kids to find confidence in making and technology. Bethany’s goal is to grow Technology Will Save Us to be the most accessible ecosystem for hands on learning and in 30 years time have helped to empower a generation of kids and parents who see technology as a medium for creativity and problem solving.
Sadhbh is the Lead Kit Designer at Technology Will Save Us. She joined the company in 2014 whilst still completing her Master’s degree in ‘Design Products’ at the Royal College of Art, an influential postgraduate art & design school in London, and has become an integral part of the product team. Sadhbh has been working hard to design the world’s first active play wearable for kids, The Mover Kit by Technology Will Save Us, which can be pre-ordered on Kickstarter now and available to buy in October.
