Lessons from architecture school
About the speaker

Akiko worked in architectural practice in London, Sydney, Tokyo and Edinburgh for 15 years prior to focussing on the facilitation of community led projects in the built environment. Using design thinking approaches, she creates ways for groups to explore the potential of their proposals, communicate their vision and gain practical skills.
As a registered architect and certified Passivhaus designer, Akiko has undertaken a variety of creative collaborations such as with service designers Snook and housing agency Assemble Collective Self Build. She has hands-on construction experience, and has most recently been part of the Tiree Noust Boathouse and Wikihouse v4.2 live build projects.
