There is a lot of power in acknowledging the love that works for you. Within that power it can be extremely motivating to sustain you through that project.

We all need to remind ourselves what love means to us, and make sure we hold onto it to carry us through.

Love is light. That is my touchstone. I call upon it when I am doubting who I am, doubting what I'm doing,

Love is light. Love is bold. And it fills you up.

When I do my work, I am as focused on what I love, and that can only serve my clients and the work I do better.

I thought that all these disparate things that filled me up didn't make any sense, but they seemed to really serve the work that I did.

Love what you are. We have all these pieces that define what we are and the work that we do.

Creatives are a valuable commodity that the world is looking for but doesn't know how to recognize it.

Creativity is not purely subjective. There is a real return on investment for businesses.

Businesses know they need creativity, but some businesses fail to see that they need creativity at its core.

Maybe people like Steve Jobs aren't as rare as we think that they are. Maybe we don't have the metrics and tests to recognize, foster, and utilize these people's amazing value.

If everything in your life has told you that you are average/below average or all the tests say you are broken then I think it's better to assume the test is broken.

Even if you're a penguin, you can believe that you can fly.

I've gone so far as to describe designers as the professionally curious.

Happiness is the state of contentment, comfort, and feeling secure. And love is not that. Love is demanding as it is giving, it's messy as it's perfect, it's challenging as it's rewarding you. But you have to open yourself up, you have to give yourself completely, you have to make yourself vulnerable—there's very little comfort or security in that, but when you strike that balance... it's the best thing on earth.

Taking the leap means that if your zone is profitable, you quit your day job for it

Find what you love and share your experience. . . Teach your skills. It is going to make you feel useful, it's going to make you feel a part of your community, and it's going to make the world a better place because of you.

Find those activities that makes you lose track of time and space.

For a long time, it was really hard for me to ask for help. There's an African proverb that goes: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." And so finding my tribe became really, really crucial for me. Finding the tribe of people who love the work they do, and who are really about that life, as my friends would say.

We damn sure don't need permission to change the world.

So now I can look at myself in the mirror, eye-to-eye contact, and I can say, "What about you is undeserving of love?" . . . nothing. Nothing.

Relationships lead to love, and love conquers hate.

What I do believe in is affirming who people are, listening to what they say, and trying our best with what we've got to understand what they're saying to us.

Everything can be improved upon.
