About the speaker

Victoria Wisniewski Otero founded Resolve Foundation in 2017 to provide an inclusive, supportive and enabling platform to amplify the voices of marginalised and underrepresented groups in Hong Kong through education, empowerment and participation. Resolve does this through a social justice fellowship that combines human rights education, campaigning skills and leadership development, and the organisation recently did a study on public perceptions of social justice in Hong Kong.

Being herself the child of an immigrant raised in a bilingual, bi-cultural household, and having lived in places from Nicaragua to Kuwait, Spain to Hong Kong, her philosophy is that there is strength in diversity. Victoria has worked for a decade in the human rights and nonprofit sector. Amongst other positions in this sector, she was formerly the Advocacy and Campaigns Manager at Justice Centre Hong Kong, working with and for some of the most misunderstood groups in Hong Kong - refugees and forced migrants. Victoria is a 2018 Generation T Lister, has spoken at a number of local, regional and international human rights conferences and featured on local and international media. She is also is also the Speaker Communications Manager of TEDxWanChai.
