About the speaker
Tecle Gebremicheal is currently studying for a B.S. in Political Science at Boise State University and serves as a Petroleum Supply Specialist in the United States Army Reserves. Only six years ago, Tecle came to the U.S.A from Ethiopia with nothing but a couple pairs of shoes (for running and soccer cleats), an empty pocket, and the full of hope that America might have everything a refugee would seek in life.
He is passionate about public service and works tirelessly for every resident in Boise’s community to make this a safer, more livable city for all. Tecle believes that refugee status has to end in order for one to start being part of a community.
Even though the name refugee sticks forever, his hard work, determination and resilience have made him a self-supporting citizen. As he hoped, America didn’t fail him. However, it has taken time and determination to accomplish career and educational success. Get excited for his talk!
