About the speaker
Surya leads AUTHENTIC, a design studio that focuses on design strategy, UX, futures prototyping, service design and interaction design. He is best known for his groundbreaking work in user experience and for industry leading practices such Design Swarms & Design Value Scorecard. Surya led Microsoft’s center of design excellence for several years, and helped to drive the transformation of the company towards an experience-first culture. Surya was a tenured professor of design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and fellow at the prestigious Center for Advanced Study. He is the author two books on design and has won several respected design awards.

I think of the creativity this way: we are all humans, every one of us, is a raw bundle of creative energy, just bursting with creativity, the way we use our toothbrush and the way we put our clothes away and the way we figure out our schedules and all of that. Where design comes into the picture is in this structured way that we can manage that creativity.
