A woman diagnosed with ADHD at 36 shares how outgrowing the expectations planted by others—and finally giving herself permission to be seen—taught her that roots grow in the dark and blossoming is rarely visible until it’s done.
About the speaker
Stacey Keating is a writer, communications strategist, and recovering overachiever who was diagnosed with ADHD and dyscalculia at the age of 36. For more than a decade, she has led corporate communications in the commercial real estate industry and currently serves as Vice President - Corporate Communications at CBL Properties, a publicly traded REIT based here in Chattanooga.
In her role, she leads external communications for the corporate brand while overseeing PR strategies, executive communications, internal messaging, thought leadership, and crisis management.
She believes storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have to connect, educate, and inspire. Effective storytelling brings complex issues to life, builds trust, and bridges gaps in understanding. She has extensive experience as a corporate spokesperson, and she is equally comfortable in front of the camera as she is behind the scenes. She’s secured media coverage in top-tier outlets such as Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and CNBC by identifying compelling angles and shaping narratives that resonate.
In her work and her personal writing, she is committed to empathy, transparency, and making a lasting positive impact. She is actively involved in the Chattanooga community, and in 2024 was named as one of Chattanooga’s top 20 young professionals under 40, and has served in various volunteer leadership roles for United Way of Greater Chattanooga, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga, Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association, and Dress for Success.
