About Design, Science, Museums, and the People (and Dinosaurs, Too). Explore how design, science, and museums make complex topics accessible and engaging for all.

In this talk, you will be taken to the crossroads between design, science, and the museum world: the exhibition team at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin is committed to making complex scientific topics as accessible and appealing as possible to a broad public. In this context, how can design not only influence the aesthetics of exhibitions, but also promote visitors’ understanding of scientific content? How can analog and digital media contribute to this? And: what do we learn from our audiences and other relevant people to produce the most fitting exhibitions possible?

About the speaker

Sonja Kreft is a Media Curator and Creative Director at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and has been dedicated to knowledge communication for around 15 years. As part of the museum's award-winning exhibition team, she has been involved in around 30 exhibition projects and countless science communication projects.

Her focus is on the tension between theoretical development and the practical implementation of analog and digital media solutions, always with the aim of surprising visitors, getting them excited about scientific content, and having a lot of fun along the way.
