About the speaker
Soledad Piñero Misa is the Social Entrepreneur of 2013 (Veckans Affärer) and CEO and founder of Retoy - creating playful opportunities for children to engage in children’s rights, the environment and global interconnectedness.
At Retoy children practice sustainable consumption in Leksaksbytesaktiviteter (toy-swapping activities), learn about their rights and portray their dreams of a better world by using recycled, broken toys and making new creations in supervised Retoy Labs, and play with toys that are produced out of love and respect for both people and the environment in non-toxic Lekytor (playing areas).
Through these playful activities children get to experience how much fun it is to be environmentally conscious and develop an excitement of bringing home “new” toys without reinforcing the consume-and-discard model. Retoy uses the curiosity and creativity in each child to awaken the understanding that each of us can be part of shaping and playing our way to a better world.
