About the speaker
Seth Labenz is a principal and co-founder of the New York / Miami design agency Topos Graphics and the creative director of the Miami publishing imprint Jai-Alai Books. Recent projects include the graphics and accompanying catalogue for Unorthodox, an exhibition curated by Jens Hoffman at The Jewish Museum, New York; publication of Rio Cortezās I have learned to define a field as a space between mountains, the inaugural winner of the Toi Derricote & Cornelius Eady Chapbook Prize, published by Jai-Alai Books; and a 10ā x 120ā video installation + event collateral for Tate Americas Foundationās triennial benefit.Ā
He holds a B.F.A. from Cooper Union and has designed and illustrated for cultural institutions, non-profits, art galleries, art advisors, book publishers, magazines, newspapers, museums, his sister, his grandmother, diamond traders, truckers, politicians, hospitals, food packagers, architects, universities, coffee roasters, fashion labels, fashionistas, music labels, artists, and a bank.
He has taken 63,241 pictures on his iPhone and has collected 113 plastic bags that say āThank Youāāeach typeset in a different font.
He lives in Miami with his wife, Molly, and two young sons, Willem and Angus.
