Reclaiming the Human Art of Curation

The Dance Hall (Kittery, ME)

part of a series on Curate (cu·rate) | Curate

About the speaker

We are curating all the time without even realizing it. From the music we play to the books we read and the lives we build, the ability to choose and sequence our experiences is a uniquely human superpower. But in a world where we increasingly outsource our taste to algorithms and automation, what happens to our sense of discovery? Through a rhythmic, multi-chapter journey blending storytelling and live music, Stuart Dias dives into the history of "active curation" - from the nostalgia of the mixtape to the rise of AI - and makes a passionate case for the magic of finding inspiration completely by accident.

Stuart Dias is a prominent musician and performer in the Seacoast area. He is the mastermind behind Diaspora Radio, a celebrated residency at The Press Room in Portsmouth, NH, where he brings a thoughtful, respectful, and boundary-pushing approach to musical storytelling.
