About the speaker
Pete Cowdin is the co-founder and director of the Rabbit hOle, a 501(c)3 working with authors and illustrators from around the country to create the world’s first Explor-a-Storium (and a national center for the children’s book) here in Kansas City.
Prior to the Rabbit hOle, Cowdin and his partner, Debbie Pettid, operated the Reading Reptile, a beloved children’s bookstore of 28 years and winner of the publishing industry’s prestigious Pannell Award for excellence in bookselling and programming for children.
As a writer and an artist working under the name “A. Bitterman”, Cowdin has received grants from the Art-in-the-Loop Foundation, the Charlotte Street Foundation, and the Andy Warhol Foundation. He is the author of the book, Fortune Cookies, illustrated by two-time Caldecott Medal winner, Chris Raschka.
