About the speaker
Olivia De Jesus (she, they) grew up in Yanawana/San Antonio and has been a choir nerd since high school. With bachelors and masters degrees in music education, Olivia had the opportunity to live and teach music across the country and globe. While working in schools, she found there was a lot to teaching in that environment that limited the expressions and experiences that her students were wanting to have with music.
She left school teaching in 2018, trained to be a somatic experiencing practitioner, and now teaches music privately and guides drop in and workshop choirs that focus on creativity, nervous system regulation, trauma resolution, and community building. She also does trauma resolution and nervous system regulation work 1:1, in groups and with organizations. She does all of this through a somatic liberation lens.
