Myles de Bastion shares how being Deaf led him to explore different technologies as a musician.
A visual sound artist and disability advocate, Myles speaks about the importance and benefits of access, how being Deaf led him to explore different technologies as a musician, and how his work aims to bring together different communities through music and art. As you watch this video, you can experience it as we did in person—in a deaf space, without the privilege of hearing and audible speech. Myles signed his talk in American Sign Language (ASL) and with the help of interpreters, live captioning technology showed the words on the wall for the audience to read. The background music in this video is “Clean Soul” by Kevin MacLeod under a Creative Commons license.
