How did The Blue Note survive a global pandemic?

Mike discusses the music industry and how venues had to pivot during Covid-19

About the speaker

Mike is originally from St. Louis, and moved to Columbia in 2007 to attend Mizzou. While attending Mizzou Mike fell in love with the live music scene. His first taste of anything “behind the scenes'' was when he would act as his college roommate’s band manager in order to get into their shows for free and drink their free beer. In 2011 Mike dropped out of Mizzou and started a Box Office internship with the Blue Note. From there Mike was hired as a part time box office employee, and then worked his way up to a bartender and into an Assistant Manager position at Mojo’s (now Rose Music Hall). Mike was made the General Manager of The Blue Note and Rose Music Hall in 2015. In 2020 Mike’s title was changed to Venue Director and with it came a refined focus on the bigger picture functions of the Columbia market operations.
