About the speaker
Michael is a Senior Lecturer at School of Arts and Communication at Malmö University in Sweden. He holds a PhD and is now Assistant Professor in Media and Communication studies and Visual Communication, with a particular research focus on visual media propaganda. Currently he is finishing an international anthology about the media world of Islamic State (ISIS) in which aspects of their communication strategies and content are highlighted. His talk at Creative Mornings will focus on how ISIS uses visual storytelling in their propaganda to appeal to supporters and recruit members, but also how the narratives can be countered online.
