A community organizer and self-proclaimed Radical Southern Belle explores the legacy of Ella Baker—arguing that true mentorship isn’t about hierarchy but witnessing, healing, and walking beside someone until they see their own brilliance.
About the speaker
Kratina Baker is a Southern-born community strategist, cultural memory steward, and storyteller whose work lives at the intersection of history, healing, and social change. She is the founder of The Radical Southern Belle, a platform and media project that explores legacy, leadership, and liberation through a distinctly Black Southern lens. Kratina currently serves as the East Tennessee Organizer for Planned Parenthood, where she supports grassroots leadership, civic engagement, and policy strategy across the region. Her work is shaped by lived experience, ancestral wisdom, and a deep belief in the power of everyday people. Whether she’s facilitating a conversation, curating a gathering, or crafting language that calls us home to ourselves, Kratina leads with authenticity, clarity, and care.
She is also a proud mother to three incredible children-Rachael (23), Kaden (18), and Nyah (14)-who are the heartbeat of her legacy and the reason she continues to build toward a freer, more just future.
