About the speaker

Justin Parr, 42, is a multimedia artist whose approach to his work has always involved a tone of loving imperfection. As a glassblower, he has over fifteen years of experience on the torch with a body of work in this regard both decorative and functional.

He has been recognized for his installation at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport exploring the city in depth through photography and as one of the featured muralists in the San Antonio Street Art Initiative. His assorted work has dealt with earthly elements-- earth through his gardens featured in the New York Times Magazine; salt from his 2008 travel grant in Europe; glass through his numerous marbles, drinking glasses and sculpture; light through his photography, and assorted other media. He is the caretaker and artist-in-residence of the Hot Wells Hotel ruins. He is the owner of FL!GHT Gallery, a San Antonio artistic institution for over twenty years.
