Harry shows the power of sharing positivity online.
Harry is an artist from humble Grangetown beginnings. He takes us on a journey of how he went from copying Spongebob characters in front of the tv to promoting mental health awareness to his 1.3 million Instagram followers.
About the speaker
This month’s speaker is Harry Hambley, a 20-year-old illustrator and global Instagram star from Llandaff, Cardiff, better known by his social media pseudonym, Ketnipz.
Harry set up Instagram account @ketnipz two years ago, during his last year of secondary school, with the intention of using the platform to vent his frustrations while characterised as a pink, cartoon bean.
The account quickly grew an audience and soon Harry found himself working with brands such as Instagram, Snapchat, and Apple. Now, on the back of the character’s success, he’s travelled the world, promoting the bean’s positive message by putting on pop-up stores, art shows and painting murals in places such as Mexico City, LA and New York.
This month’s theme is Symmetry. Harry will talk about his approach to building a business and community online; the difficulties of staying creative while trying to keep up with trends and algorithms; and mental health, social media and why the majority of his work is about spreading positivity online.
