Getting Over Myself: the Ultimate Radical Overhaul

Emma discusses using poetry as a way to process emotions or as Carl Jung called it, the ‘auseinandersetzung,’ which translates to ‘having it out with ourselves.’ She talks about how the writing/reading process links to Carl Jung’s studies on psychological development and how we can use poetry to deal with our demons and take on a radical overhaul of ourselves. She talks about the idea of being a radical advocate for social change and what that means in 2020 – which comes up in a few of her poems. The new radical is being able to acknowledge the problems within our own mindsets because by feigning perfection as activists, we become part of the problem.
