During Deven’s talk, he addresses the burning question (can data be creative?!) and speaks to ways in which not challenging the normalized way of thinking about data has and continues to lead to corruption across even the most seemingly well-intended settings. In addition to shining a light on the inequities and harm this narrow view of and approach to data can perpetuate, he invites listeners to think about data in a new way — one that is more inclusive, accessible, approachable and actively disrupts patterns, patterns of corruption.

About Deven Wisner
Deven (he/him) is a native Tucsonan and Co-Founder of Viable Insights, an organizational development and evaluation firm rooted in the Sonoran Desert.
Deven and his team partner with organizations across non-profit, for-profit, higher education, health, government, and foundation and philanthropic sectors. Ultimately, their goal is to help them use data more intentionally and in a way that feels approachable and useful — something that often gets lost in the process or name of using data.
In addition to his role as Managing Partner for Viable Insights, Deven is a doctoral candidate at the University of Arizona, where has also taught Organizational Behavior and Psychology of Leadership. He is the Past President of Arizona Evaluation Network, Chair of the Data Visualization & Reporting TIG for the American Evaluation Association, and the co-founder of the Tucson Tableau User Group. Deven is also a dad, partner, and friend.
