About the speaker
David Furman is a Charlotte native, architect, and developer, who has specialized in creating the urban experience through unique residential and mixed-use developments. He has designed and/or developed over 40 projects in downtown Charlotte and SouthEnd, including Charlotte’s first downtown high-rise condo, Courtside, and the 28-story TradeMark building, where he lives and works.
David has many accolades to his credit as an architect and community activist, while creating three architectural firms, the development entity, of Centro CityWorks, and the Centro Bono Foundation, (which provides housing for homeless men in recovery). In 2015 David was awarded the Vision Award from Charlotte Center City Partners and named one of the Charlotteans of the Year by Charlotte Magazine. In 2017 he was recognized with the Pillars of the Industry Award by the Charlotte Business Journal.
David remains active as an architect, developer, and artist, creating wood sculptures in a downtown studio; as well as a willing participant in many initiatives to advance Charlotte’s urban presence as a premier place to live, work, and play.
