Dan Wu believes in better eating through diversity. He believes in collaboration over competition. He believes that there is more that unites us than divides us. And he believes that compassion makes us all better—in business, and in everyday life. In his talk, Dan shares his experience in supporting immigrants and refugees, the communal power of food, his path to becoming a chef and restauranteur, and his approach to doing well by doing good in business. He leaves us with a quote from Anne Frank, “No one has ever become poorer by giving.”

About the speaker

You may be familiar with Dan Wu as the “Culinary Evangelist,” a leader in the Bluegrass culinary scene who hosts a podcast interviewing local restauranteurs and chefs. Or you might have seen Dan competing on FOX’s “Masterchef” in 2014.

Earlier this year, Dan led the “I Am a Kentuckian” video project, highlighting the diverse contributions of Kentucky’s immigrant and refugee population while raising awareness and funds for immigration and refugee rights and advocacy.

In September, Dan will open Atomic Ramen in the new food barn at the Summit at Fritz Farm.
