Amy discusses how to blossom as a neurodivergent freelancer by focussing on your special interests

Amy Pay has a lot of interests. From Pokemon to pottery, arranging flowers to arranging data on a spreadsheet, she has developed her practice in a way that makes her special interests her super power. Her honest and open discussion follows her journey from precocious child to professional creative, touching on the highs and lows as life as a neurodivergent creative.

About the speaker

Amy Pay is a journalist, content producer, creative consultant and the founder of Sprig Studio. Having freelanced for over a decade, she's worked for clients including Lonely Planet, Visit Wales, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Evening Standard, ITV and many more. Her specialisms reflect some of her key interests: Wales, the creative industries, wellbeing, small business and specialty coffee.

Outside of work, Amy is a serial hobbyist with an insatiable curiosity. From ceramics and flower arranging to painting and embroidery, she always has multiple creative projects on the go, selling her makes and running workshops via Sprig Studio.

As a neurodivergent creative, Amy passionately advocates for maintaining a healthy work life balance by making time for creativity, self care and following your passions. She's found these things give her energy rather than depleting it, and have led to greater productivity and new work opportunities.

Actively rejecting perfection and the notion of 'normal', Amy believes everyone can benefit from giving themselves the space and time to explore creative pursuits, sharing their interests (no matter how geeky) and figuring out what they really value in life.

Amy will be sharing her story, personal insights and ways to make time for unleashing your curious and creative inner child. Come along and be inspired to play!
