About the speaker

Alvin is Founding Partner of CIRCUS, the venture innovates across social innovation and entreprenuership, urban system and strategy, cultural and creative industry, participatory design and curatorship.

He also serves as Professor (adjunct) and Vice Dean of City Design and Innovation at CAFA Beijing, after being Founding Director of Design Institute for Social Innovation at PolyU Hong Kong.

His curatorial projects break new ground at home and internationally, notably DETOUR (2009,10,13), Hong Kong pavilion in Venice Biennale (2006,14), Hong Kong Fashion Guerilla 2013,14,15,16), 10DAYFEST (2013,14,15).

Recently, Alvin offered advanced executive education for institutions such as Hong Kong Government, Macau Government, ONE Foundation, Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, WHO Western Pacific Region, etc., and has organized international workshop in China, France, Russia, Italy, Germany and other countries.

Alvin has been appointed board and committee member of Hong Kong Federation of Design Associations, Hong Kong Architecture Centre, Ambassadors of Design, PMQ, Hong Kong Art Museums, Hong Kong Stamps, China Architecture Media Award, Bi-City Biennale, Harbourfront Commission, Highway Department, Industrial Designers Society, Good Seed, HKCSS-HSBC Social Innovation Platform, UNESCO Sustainable Development Programme amongst others. He also cofounded Fashion Farm Foundation, Wan Chai Visual Archive and Impact Hub Shanghai.

Alvin received his professional terminal degree from the Architectural Association London, Alvin was a winner of Hong Kong Institute of Architects Award 2007 and Rome Scholar 2004. In addition he received the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award 2011, Forbes China Designer Award 2015, and Commendation for Community Service on HKSAR 2010 Honours List.
