About the speaker

Alison Miller opened local adult boutique, Taboo when she was 23 years old and still working on her BA in Fashion Merchandising from VCU. Over the past 20 years she’s grown her business from one store to three and earned national awards including Boutique of the Year in 2009. Richmond has selected Taboo as Best Adult Novelty store nine years in a row in Style Weekly.

Alison is a writer and regular contributor to local publications as well as national magazines. She is a proud promotor of sex positivity and enjoys facilitating discussions on sexuality. In 2019 Alison moved to San Diego with her family. She continues to manage Taboo and visit Richmond frequently.

Since moving to California she has renewed her interest in poetry, earning certification from San Diego Writer’s Ink and starting Throats to the Sky Literary Magazine. She will begin earning her master’s degree from SDSU in the fall of 2021 and her chapbook, Mane, debuts early 2022. Alison is also a certified aerial yoga instructor.
