Exploring the mystery of me allowed me to push boundaries, even the boundaries of my own limitations.

As I continued on my journey, I started to explore myself, instead of judging myself. I saw some of the ways I had failed had actually been the catalyst for future success.

What's the biggest mystery to me? Well, the biggest mystery to me, is me.

When we are faced with something that is difficult or impossible to understand or explain, dive into it. Put on your inner child lens and allow yourself to become curious. It can be a really beautiful thing.

When we allow fear to be next in line after being faced with something mysterious, we really do a big disservice to ourselves. We deny ourselves to look into something that holds so much more than we may ever have imagined. When we are more curious, we in turn, develop more compassion, and it all comes back to the fact that we are a lot less differeint than we think we are.

This is one of the beauties that mystery provides. It's an opportunity and desire to be curious.

This is a disease, an addition, we need to do the right thing.

We cannot arrest our way out of this.

If we are ever going to beat this disease and really challenge it, and really look at this, I think we need to destigmatize this and have open discussions and have people who are in recovery say it was really difficult but I’ve made it through.

Everybody that is in the film is identifiable to everybody.

You are forced to look at them as a human being in a real story.

I really wanted to make the choice of going outside that box by showing people as they are today.

I wanted to make the audience really like and to know these people and their stories and know them as people because I think that’s the first way of breaking that stigma.

I wanted to tell real people’s, real stories and a lot are in recovery and some of them are not. I wanted it to have that really personal feeling.

It’s sons, daughters, friends, people that you know and people that you don’t expect.

Every headline in every newspaper was about Heroin.

I meet a lot of people everyday in what I do. Most of those people already placed me in a box—I have blue hair, I'm brown, I'm short, I may not be educated—all these things. But when they ask me one of the most cliche questions in DC, that's when the fun begins.

There's something to be said for...actually engaging with the community you want to benefit.

We had no background in starting a business, fundraising, programming, robotics, material science or mechanical engineering. But what we lacked in somewhat critical skills, we made up for in ambition.
