So I taught them screenprinting. I didn’t know about screenprinting either, so I was actually teaching myself. Everything that happened in my life came about through people asking the question and exploring 'what if.' We're in a world right now where we can focus a lot on what is. But I want to challenge you in home, in work, in your communities to really explore 'what if'—what if you took the time to leverage your experience, your opportunity, to make communities in this world healthier and better for all. play redirect heart
If you look at culture as the root for a new framework that provides an opportunity for communities to build an impact policy in ways that create social, educational, economic and environmental impacts that open up opportunities for communities, you're looking at healthier, more robust communities. And artists can play an integral role in that as being catalysts using social capital to leverage and bring folks together. play redirect heart
If culture shapes health and artists shape culture, then culturally shaped communities can have change. play redirect heart
I found out that by looking at a drawing, looking at an illustration, and hopefully some of you who do illustration and design notice this as well…it's that added layer. Someone is looking at an event or an image or a message through your eyes and through your interpretation. And I think that really does help people slow down and see something for really what it is and have some added layers to it and some added emotional weight. play redirect heart
I have cartoons that are just trying to capture an emotion and capture something that will give some sort of representation of events where maybe words just aren't enough. play redirect heart
Sometimes for each of us, sometimes it just takes a spark. That little, bitty spark of kindness that will be able to make a difference in someone's life and affect how they change their life. play redirect heart
For all of us, we're all surviving here. You know, some of us are surviving passively, some of us are surviving instinctively but we have the opportunity always to kind of shift that survival into creativity play redirect heart
Pioneers set up camp in the unknown. They can be comfortable in the uncomfortable. play redirect heart
You gotta let people see what it is you are, what you do. You can't create things and leave it in the basement. play redirect heart
