While we think of the intrusion of technology in our lives, there’s an incredible number of people in this country that don’t have basic access. Here in BC, 75% of First Nation’s communities don’t have access to broadband, which is required for basic streaming, or connecting like this [for a Creative Mornings virtual talk].

I find that the number one thing I can do with self-care is be honest.

That’s my process: don’t give up, and go to therapy.

Privacy, to me, is about what’s sacred.

It really upsets me when people think they have to protect other people’s secrets with their silence because that silence is fueled by shame, and shame is corrosive to a person’s spirit.

If you believe you cannot, then you will not. But if you believe the only way up is up, then you will rise.

Every choice that we make is an investment in the outcomes we want to see in the world and in ourselves.

Investment in the face of fear is all about stepping forward […] no matter the consequence.

When our minds are clear and our purpose is drawn, we give ourselves space to act with specific intention and we begin to realize how where we are right now as individuals is an accumulation of the daily investments, the daily choices we’ve made up until this point.

When we choose to get out in front of our fear, we create space for ourselves to grow. We create space for opportunity to enter.

The best decisions I’ve ever made are when I’ve chosen to move through that fear and embrace uncertainty.

I was separated, and now, I’m reconnecting and learning my roots. For me, the connection point was so strong because Standing Rock was a huge risk for me. I was like, ‘You know, I’m going to leave. I’m going to do this. I’m learning all of this.’ I’m like, ‘This is where I’m supposed to be. The Creator is supposed to have me in this space to learn in a way that’s going to be beneficial for my kids.

By living your truth, you give others permission to do the same

Allowing the emotions that we don't like to move through us is like steering into a skid. It might be scary. It might counterintuitive. But generally, it leads to a better result.

It is amazing how much you can accomplish if you just ignore things…. Realizing what can be ignored… remove the demands on your brain that don’t really make you do anything other than flurry.

The great poet Rumi said “language is a river, silence is the ocean”

When it comes to external validation.. I think it’s really important. But I would say: choose who you listen to. Listen to great mentors and teachers.... and be alert to the small voice inside you. If you listen to 1000 impulses of people who’s opinions are thrown at you quickly and without intent, it’s easy to be buffeted by the winds of opinion…. If you go that way, you’ll never move.

When I think of procrastination, I imagine time as a loop and if you push something far enough along that loop, it will come up behind you and start pushing you. And it’s so much easier to have the flow of the universe at your back.
