I don't sit on the fence...if I'm trying to sit on the fence I'm not standing for anything. It's always better to say this is who I am. This is what I stand for. This is the message I want to get out. In political roles, people appreciate the courage.'

What I have tried to do with the role is to make it more influential...a platform where it wasn't before...where people are listening and people care

Fantasy was my refuge, and this was my way of building courage to confront the world—to confront reality.

The challenge with empathy is keeping people in empathetic states isn’t a long-term solution for most. We can use empathy to inspire emotion but we have to help them move that emotion to deeper care.

Empathy is built in with every single human being.

Typography can be very expressive but also it should work with the photography and compete against it.

The act of turning a page is revealing something unknown. And if you can play with the reader's anticipation and feed into it, then you're making it an interactive experience that's also memorable.

I realized what I see today is not solely my own. It's a culmination of everyone I've shown my work to for criticism.

It occurred to me that learning to see critically, the way my colleagues did, was teaching me the value of perspective. Everyone had something different to offer.
