Meet Our New Host

Hello! (Or should I say good morning?) I’m Jennifer Mead, the new host of CreativeMornings/Tucson. If you’ve been to any of our events, you may know I’m not new to CreativeMornings, but stepping up from co-host to host is a change, and one I’m excited to take on!

Along with our team of amazing volunteers, Emily Pratt (our new Co-Host) and I are ready to continue our mission of bringing together and celebrating Tucson’s creative community!

A bit about me

What’s my story? In a sentence I’d say: I’m a chance designer and purposeful connector who is passionate about bringing people and ideas together.

Call it chance or fate, a creative career is something I happened into. I didn’t know I was *creative* or that creative could mean anything other than those folks who seemed born artists.

Thankfully, I met someone along the way that called out the creativity they saw in me. That set me on a path I don’t think I’d have otherwise found. I’ve been making a career of design for over ten years now, and I’m always eager to share my discovery of creativity with others in case I could be the catalyst that helps them find it in themselves.

A bit about the team

Every CreativeMornings event is FREE and run by a team of volunteers.

I’m so grateful to the many volunteers who continue to give their time and expertise to bring these events and this community to life. Shout out to our current roster: Cheryl Toth, Julie Bonner, Mohammed Al-Sammak, Fabian Tejada, David Pike, and Desi Aragon.Ā

My vision for CreativeMornings/Tucson

My ultimate vision is to create positive change in our community through the ideas we share and the people we bring together.Ā

This isn’t goodbye, it’s good morning.

I am stepping down as host of CreativeMornings after founding our Tucson chapter more than 3 years ago. My friend and co-host Jen Mead is graciously taking the baton, with the backing of her co-host Emily Pratt and an incredible team of volunteers.

In 3 years, we have gathered and shared in coffee and conversation 36 times. A handful of you have attended almost all of them. More than 800 of you have been to at least one.

We met new people and gained a greater sense of connection, something the pandemic proved cannot be taken for granted.

We practiced empathy and understanding and experienced good vibes in ways that seem increasingly rare in a world full of echo chambers and epic clap backs.

We absorbed new knowledge and discovered the oft hidden heroes among us who use creativity to help solve the challenges we face both locally and globally.

We learned that creativity is foundational to the human experience and that we are all creatives.

And we affirmed Tucson has one of the most fascinating and inspiring creative communities in the world, a fact we should not only embrace with confidence but evangelize with conviction every chance we get.

I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished so far and what will evolve beyond my stewardship. I know our chapter will only continue to grow stronger.

I am stepping down because my new primary home will be in Washington, DC. But I will still be in town often and involved in this chapter however I can be. My company BRINK still calls Tucson home as does a giant piece of my heart. So good morning to all you fine folks. I’ll see you at a future event.–Josh Belhumeur
