Shi shares his inspiring journey from humble beginnings in Foshan to becoming a leader in environmental finance, emphasizing purpose, resilience, and the importance of following one’s wider path.
Yi Shi is a China-born, world-traveling impact investor who thrives where creativity, innovation, and meaningful change intersect. Having lived in nine cities across six countries, Shi has built a career bridging finance and environmental impact—and now channels that global journey into his role as Client Portfolio Manager and Impact Specialist at a leading Swiss bank. Educated in physics, environmental studies, and management at Berkeley, Yale, and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School, Shi pairs analytical rigor with an artist’s instincts. Beyond the numbers, he’s an actor, writer (with one of his plays adapted Off-Broadway), and singer—ranging from musicals to a cappella to performing with his rock band at work. For Shi, creativity isn’t an escape from business—it’s the engine that powers it. In this talk, he invites the audience on his evolving Camino, sharing how imagination and artistry fuel professional courage, clarity, and connection in a complex world.
