William Teo & Allan Chai speak on the importance of Hope
About the speaker
William Teo is a founding member and recently elected Chairman of E4PID, established in 2010 to advocate for and create meaningful employment opportunities for persons with special needs. Prior to E4PID, he served on the Board of MINDS, a charity that advances the development, well-being, and aspirations of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PwID), and chaired its Caregivers’ Support Group sub-committee. Now retired from managing an engineering firm, William devotes his time to community initiatives that promote inclusion, independence, and sustainable futures for people with intellectual disabilities.
He is the father of Teo Shui Shann, 29, who attends the Touch Centre for Independent Living at Bukit Merah, near Mushroom Buddies, a social enterprise founded by E4PID. Drawing on his personal journey as a parent of a child with special needs, William actively supports other families planning sustainable futures for their children.
Beyond E4PID, William volunteers with IDHealth, a clinic under the Happee Hearts Movement, providing direct support to families of PwID. He is also building an informal neighbourhood network to bring people together to do good in the community. With a keen interest in coding, William plays a hands-on role in designing and maintaining the climate control system at Mushroom Buddies.
