About the speaker
A graduate of the prestigious Cornell University, William Lim spent five years honing his architectural skills in Boston before returning to Hong Kong in 1987. In 1993, he was named Managing Director of CL3 Architects Ltd, a leading regional design studio creating architectural and interior projects for hotel, hospitality, restaurants, retail and corporate clients. Based in Hong Kong with a staff of 60 and regional offices in Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai, CL3 is multi award-winning studio with on-going projects in Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Greater China.
Aside from being recognized as one of Hong Kongâs most innovative architects, William Lim is also a respected art patron, collector and celebrated artist. His sophisticated knowledge and appreciation of art informs his architectural designs and interiors, from the inspired use of colors to his instinctive understanding of structure, space and light. Bringing an artistâs eye to each project, Williamâs designs are enriched with bespoke sculptural pieces, local artwork and subtle cultural references. âI like interesting art pieces that have strong design concepts and themes,â he explains. âA workâs use of space is an important factor to me, whether it is a painting, installation, or sculpture.â
