About the speaker
Vidmantas Balkūnas - is one of the young and perspective press photographers in Lithuania. He says that press photography in Lithuania has no traditions and wonders that it might be the reason why most of the pictures which occur in press looks or are fake. The real purpose of a picture is to make you think, stop, gasp, a picture must be original, breathtaking, unexpected and even changing lives. "Events which have nothing to do with a real photojournalism occur in places full of plastic faces with fake smiles" says open and brave photojournalist who has just returned from the front line in Ukraine.
