What are FieldTrips?
FieldTrips are meetups to interact, learn and collaborate in an effort to level-up your creative life.
We’re limiting these events to only 25 people, they’re like an intimate dinner party. Your absence will be felt so please make sure that you can definitely attend if you sign up. Also, we’re in the prototyping phase, so come with an open mind and be prepared for anything.
Thanks for participating! We’re lucky to have you.
Tree to Table
February 1, 8:00am - 9:30am CST. Hosted at Berdoll Sawmill
About this FieldTrip
Feel like a walk through the woods is just the thing? Join us at Berdoll Sawmill for a behind-the-scenes look into processing reclaimed, native Texas hardwood logs into large, natural edge slabs and furniture grade lumber.
We’ll get a private tour that will include a visit to the log yard where reclaimed Texas pecan, mesquite, and walnut logs are waiting to be milled on one of Berdoll’s three sawmills. We’ll also get a front seat to watch the milling of a large log and learn about the meticulous process of properly drying hardwoods. The tour’s final stop will be the showroom and woodshop, where 20-foot-long slabs are transformed and finished into beautiful tables and custom furniture projects. FieldTrippers will experience the entire tree to table process, and learn more about this Texas-born family business.
If you were at our Fortlandia FieldTrip at The Wildflower Center last Fall, Berdoll Sawmill was one of the fort architects. Come meet the maker behind the installation!
This field trip will be primarily outdoors, so closed-toed shoes are recommended.
Chameleon Cold-Brew is Austin’s original consciously-crafted, organic cold-brew coffee.
Celebrating our 10th anniversary this year, Berdoll Sawmill is a family owned and operated sawmill just east of Austin. We exclusively harvest and mill native Texas hardwood logs from sustainable sources. We take pride in producing the highest quality live edge slabs and furniture grade lumber available
